Caravan

Introduction

Caravan is Rick Silva's occasionally-produced zine, originally published under the auspices of Pentegram Komix & Graphix, now produced by Dandelion Studios. Caravan is Rick's personal project, so it contains whatever he feels inclined to include. He does most of the writing himself, and Gynn provides artwork. Caravan is available at the bargain rate of $1.00 per issue postage included! Zinesters out there can also trade an issue of your zine for an issue of Caravan. And we offer a 10-issue subscription for a measly five bucks! Starting with issue #7, Caravan is now being published as part of the Phoenix APA. You will be able to buy Caravan as part of Phoenix, or purchase a standalone copy of Caravan here.

Submit Your Work

As mentioned above, Caravan is mostly a personal publication. There are three areas where I do take submissions are the Guest Artist and Guest Poet corners, and True Mythology. Payment for an accepted submission is in the form of five free copies of the issue that your work appears in. Here are the specifics:

Guest Poet's Corner: I publish one poem by a different guest poet each issue. No limitations on style or content. I'll look at anything. Shorter pieces are more likely to be accepted due to space considerations. You may send me up to five poems for consideration.

Guest Artist's Corner: I can give a guest artist up to half a page of space. B/W artwork only. Send me samples (copies, not originals) of your work and I'll contact you.

True Mythology: I'm looking for true accounts of any type of encounters with the paranormal or unusual, as well as retellings of local myths, legends, and folktales. I'll set an arbitrary limit of 2000 words, but I'm flexible on that. Again, though, we like shorter submissions. They're easier to fit into the zine and still have room for the other stuff.

In addition to the features listed above, I currently have room in Caravan for one or two additional ongoing comic strips (1-3 panels per strip). If you're interested in seeing your comic in Caravan, please contact me.

Submissions may be sent to:

Or email them to rsilva444@yahoo.com. Please include "Caravan Submission" in the subject line.
